Connecting Classrooms
As part of the International School Award we at South Rise are taking part in a whole school project called Connecting Classrooms which is a three year project supported by the British Council in which five Greenwich schools will work together in partnership with ten schools in Egypt.
The overall aims of the project are for all schools in the cluster to become more aware of universal global issues and promote understanding and respect between cultures and traditions through exchange of knowledge, sharing of experiences and joint activities in order to prepare our students for life as 21st Century global citizens
This week representatives from Egypt have been in London taking part in a Contact Seminar. Cluster co-ordinators have been able to meet together with Ministers of Education and British Council representatives from Egypt to discuss and write draft action plans for the first year of the project.
As part of the seminar visitors from Egypt have been able to visit each of the other schools in the Greenwich Cluster including John Roan, Secondary, Charlton Special School, Invicta Primary School and St Vincent’s Primary School.
On Thursday 11th November Dr Khaled, Minister for Education, Egypt worked together with Soheila Mathison, Steve Smith, Chair of Governors, Rosemary Sanders, International Co-ordinator and Chris Thorne, SENCO finalising plans for our future work together. Our guests then took part in our Remembrance Day Assembly led by Mrs Charlesworth-Marsh and joined the school in a two minute silence to mark Armistice Day.
We look forward to a rich and rewarding partnership with schools in Egypt.
