What will my child learn?

What will my child learn?

At South Rise School we encourage children to become independent and creative learners and have chosen to follow the Primary Years Programme (PYP) of The International Baccalaureate. This focuses on the total growth of the developing child and draws on research and best practice from a range of national systems to create a relevant, engaging, challenging and significant educational framework for all our children.

Whilst we place great emphasis on the basic skills of Language and Literacy, Mathematics and ICT and rigorously follow The National Curriculum, we help children to make links across the subject boundaries by asking and answering meaningful questions related to relevant half termly themes.

We are passionate about the creative arts and promote music, art, dance and drama by inviting experts and enthusiasts to work with the children.

The  curriculum is also  supported by out of school visits and partnership work with museums, librairies galleries and universities.

We have excellent links with local secondary schools and work on joint projects together to make transition from Year 6 to Year 7 much easier.
