Educational Visits

Children are taken out on outings/visits as part of their educational opportunities whilst they are with us. We believe visits are of great value to the social and educational development of the children. For some visits parents are asked to make a voluntary contribution to help towards the cost of the outing - coach, entry etc. We try to keep our costs as low as possible. We are also grateful to parents who accompany classes on these occasions.

"School visits with South Rise Primary invite children to a whole new world of learning and fun. They are educational and they teach children more things about most subjects especially science. The subjects also seem more real to children. They are fun because the children can touch and have a closer look at things. Any new children coming to South Rise will enjoy their school trips. I remember when my class and I went to the Natural History Museum. There were a lot of scientific facts about rocks, dinosaurs, the ecosystem, volcanoes and us humans. When I got back home I found I had learnt a lot more than normal days. So going on school visits with South Rise is quite good." Madeline Asala - pupil

School Journey

We aim to offer pupils in Year 4 & 6 the opportunity to take part in a school journey depending on the availability of venue and staff. We use the Greenwich approved sites in Swanage and Wrotham. Grants are available for pupils of families who qualify.

Educational Entertainers

Over the year the school provides live educational entertainment for the children - authors, musicians, puppeteers, live theatre, poets, a portable planetarium etc. - to inspire interest and enhance their enjoyment of learning.

Play Club

An independently organised play club is held at school from 3.30 to 6pm each night of the week. It is run by Greenwich Leisure Services and all enquiries should be directed to the Senior Play Worker.

Other School Clubs

Where possible the pupils are offered a range of activities. Clubs are run by members of the school staff in their own time (lunch time or straight after school) e.g. choir, netball, football, reading, chess, computer, guitar. If a club is after school parental permission will be required.

School council

To enable the older pupils to feel more involved in the life of the school we have started a School Council for pupils in Years 3-6. This is made up of pupils, one boy and one girl elected by their class. It has regular meetings and is involved in school projects and other issues.
