Enrichment
At South Rise we offer a weekly Enrichment programme on a Friday afternoon for Key Stages 1 and 2. Activities are run by a variety of teachers, some are the specialist teachers at the school, some are run by Teaching Assistants and others are run by hired in professionals or volunteers. Our governors play a key part in volunteering their time to keep Enrichment running smoothly.
In Key Stage 1 children are rotated to a new activity every term. The activities on offer include:
Art and Craft, Sewing, Cookery, Tennis (summer), Drama and Basketball (winter).
In Key Stage 2 children also change Enrichment classes each half term but in Key Stage there is a slight twist...
Each term children are asked to pick their top 5 choices of Enrichment activity and the Enrichment Co-ordinator gives them the highest possible choice. Every effort is made to give children their top choice but this is, unfortunately, not always possible.
The classes to choose from in Key Stage 2 include:
Art and Craft, Card Making, Outdoor Games, Football (Welling United coaches), Drama, Scout Reach, Fun with Food, Computers, Tae Kwon Do, Sewing, Cheerleading and Chess.
The Foundation Stage are also offered a Drama Enrichment every Friday morning with an expert teacher who specialises in Early Years teaching.
Enrichment shows the full skill set of our school and is enjoyed by all. Children flourish with the opportunity to explore new skills and get creative.
