About Us
South Rise is a Primary School within the London Borough of Greenwich. The school comprises of two buildings. The main building, which is relatively modern, has classrooms, the Nursery, practical work areas, two halls, KS2 library, staffroom and offices. The annexe which is a modernised Victorian traditional building, has classrooms, KS1 library, medical room, music room, ICT suite and stores.
South Rise is currently the largest primary school in the Greenwich LEA. We offer education to children from 3 years (in the nursery) to 11 years, when they transfer to secondary school.
The Nursery has two classes offering 20 full-time places and 30 part-time morning places and 30 part-time afternoon places. The nursery has its own separate play space and garden.
The school is three-form entry, which means there are normally three classes in each year group with up to 90 pupils in each year group.
South Rise Primary School aims include high expectations for all children's learning. We endeavour to create a happy, purposeful working environment that is intellectually challenging to the children and in which they can develop academically, socially, emotionally and physically. We want the children to:
- achieve their full potential across a broad and balanced curriculum.
- respect others, behave well, and work hard
- take pride in themselves and their achievements.
To enable us to do this we consider it most important to work in partnership with parents and carers. We have children from many different backgrounds and we value the contribution that all our families make to the school. All members of our school community, pupils, parents, staff and governors are respected and valued.
"In South Rise our children come from all over the world. Many of them are different colours but that does not matter at South Rise. We have strict rules e.g. No Bullying or Racism. Not everyone is perfect but they do try. Nobody takes advantage even if you're not a winner. Everyone will try to get along with you. Pupils in our school try to have a go at all the subjects. South Rise expects good behaviour from everyone. Ninety-nine percent out of a hundred percent we are a brilliant school".
